Ivy was from an orphanage in Gentiana. She was very distant from the other kids, often drawing or daydreaming alone. That was until Aviden, a child 2 years younger than her from the slums was introduced in the orphanage. Like Ivy, Aviden also had a difficult time with the other kids, often not being able to understand social cues. The two were often paired together by the caretakers since they didn’t wander off or cause trouble like the other kids. Despite this, the two were not friends and did not talk to each other.Aviden was later pushed by the caretakers to befriend Ivy. Since Aviden didn’t know how to get her attention, he grabbed her sketchbook and ran off, getting chased by a furious Ivy. Ivy started to attack him and the two got into a fight. Aviden had the upper hand because he had been in multiple fights in the past. He punched Ivy really hard and she fainted. From this day forward, Aviden has felt super guilty about what he did. He apologized many times to Ivy for punching her but Ivy was more mad that he took her sketchbook lol.After the incident, the two started to get closer. Aviden followed Ivy around everywhere, fascinated by her. Ivy viewed Aviden like an annoying bug who would fly around her face. She didn’t have any alone time to daydream anymore and she would get annoyed when he stared at her drawing. Eventually she got used to it and he became the only one she got comfortable with to watch her draw.Aviden was later adopted by a caring family from Rivervale. He cried for many days from having to separate from Ivy and never seeing her again. Ivy thought she was glad he left but she found her life to be lonely afterwards.The orphanage shut down and Ivy was transferred to a different town. Instead of an orphanage, she worked around the town for a bit of money. She later escaped at 16 years old and found herself in Rivervale where she lived a life as a thief to survive. When she was 19, she was caught by Aviden, who was an apprentice guard of the town. She was then forced to go into rehabilitation and do community service while being overseen by Aviden.Azalea, Aster, and Jamesia came by. The three recruited Ivy and Aviden to help them.
